The John Bellany Day Centre recently marked a truly special milestone, celebrating 30 years of care, community and compassion with a joyful event at Port Seton Community Centre.

Supporters, committee members, volunteers and local residents came together to reflect on three decades of making a real difference in people’s lives.

The celebration was filled with warmth, gratitude and pride, recognising not only how far the Centre has come, but the many people who have made it possible.

A heartfelt tribute was paid to Ann Anderson, the founding member of the Day Centre, and to Nan Marshall, who has given an incredible 30 years of dedicated volunteering. Their commitment embodies the spirit of kindness and community that defines the Centre.

Chair, David Ferrier, shared his pride in everything the Day Centre has achieved, thanking everyone who has played a part in its journey. Manager Keith McCombs also reflected on his 26 years with the service, highlighting the fantastic staff team, volunteers and committee members who continue to support local people with kindness, dignity and compassion every day.

At its heart, the John Bellany Day Centre is about people—supporting members and their families, creating connection, and offering a welcoming and caring environment. The stories shared on the day were a powerful reminder of the difference the Centre makes across the community.

As well as celebrating the past, the event looked ahead with optimism, with exciting plans to expand services and establish a new Day Centre supporting Musselburgh, Wallyford and Whitecraig.

We are also deeply thankful to the Bellany family, and especially Helen, for their continued support over the years—a lasting connection that helps keep John Bellany’s spirit, creativity and legacy at the heart of all that we do.
