If you are looking for a place at John Bellany Day Centre you can contact us by phone or by inquiring through our "Contact Us" page. Alternatively, the day centre referral form can be found via the download link below. Any completed day centre referral form should be sent by email to the following email address:
bellanydaycentre@btconnect.com
We can arrange for you (or the person you think would like to come) to visit us, or we can visit the person at home to explain more about the centre.
A referral can also be made to us by your GP or other professional.
We only have 18 places available each day for people who need to attend the centre. Some people come once a week, others come more often. It all depends on what needs people have.
You are eligible if you are:
- Living independently in the community
- Need extra help and support to stay independent
- Live in Cockenzie/Port Seton or Longniddry
- Not living in Local Authority or Nursing Home accommodation
If you fit our criteria, a member of staff from John Bellany Day Centre will meet you at a place which suits your needs to discuss the referral. You are welcome to invite a family member, friend or other person to attend the meeting to offer support.
At the meeting we will discuss what happens at the day centre and what you would like to get out of it, to make sure you get the most out of the time you spend with us.
If we do not have any vacancies, you may have to wait until a place becomes available.
If we are unable to provide you with a place at John Bellany Day Centre when you first apply, we can place you on our waiting list. We can also suggest other local groups who may interest you and who may also be suitable for your needs.
John Bellany Day Centre have now expanded their services and provide Outreach Support to our older population in Cockenzie, Port Seton, Blindwells and Longniddry. We are conscious that not all our older population have family, carer or neighbour support and may need others to assist them with shopping, making personal appointments, travelling or being supported on a social outing. Family and carers can be provided with support for a loved one when they are in need of some respite. Our sitter service is a useful option to alleviate some of the stress of constant care. All of these and more may be items that you face daily. Please tell us if we can help in any of these ways. A fee is not charged at this time for our Outreach Support Service.
